when i hear them coming fast and rolling in like the waves on the shore only not as beautiful...it has begun...

I told someone i would easily give away a finger for it's removal.

But now it's a part of me.

It is me.

It is who i spend all if not most of my time with..My head.

Never a dull moment...never the time..

And so i have learnt to live with it..and in a way love it. grow with it..

trust that it will take me somewhere new, and make me someone with whom i truly want to be and spend time with...alot of time. cause lord knows...I'm not going anywhere.

Tis' weather where somewhere else it's sweltering hot and that is a wonder in it's self.

i think it's funny when we are in love and songs remind us of our love, smells, even lines in movies, words and so much more.

Love keeps us going, keeps us sane, turns us insane, makes us lonely, makes us angry, makes us make up words.

love makes us dance like robots...dance like no-one is looking and suprise nosey nose people.

Love really is what makes life well peachy.

i hope peachy is on the cards for my long weekend and all others i know as well :)

There are moments in our lives that shape us.

moments where we can sit and ponder and really see how they defined us as people.

And then there are the in between moments..

maybe they are the time wasting moments who knows really...

There is a lyric in a song that i favour at the moment and it says..

"If i could have it back...all of the time that i've wasted, i'd waste it again" "waste it again and again and again"

And this hits me right to my core. because despite all those so called MAGIC MOMENTS that shape and define us..

there is a beauty, a silence a resting place.

Like just laying in the sun, watching your kids secretly...or maybe for some people...inventing new ironing techniques!

just being who you are with no judgement feet up or fetal position.

I trully believe if i could have it back, I WOULD waste it again and again..moments especially where i was just sitting with friends thinking boy am i wasted...

(probably not the best life choice at the time)

but it was the in between

and these are as important

as those defining wonderful moments.

I had terrifying, terrible things happen in the in between.

But i have also had a peace and a beauty.

So i guess my point is remember the big moments the amazingly huge life changing moments, the defining moments..but do try to be kind to yourself and remember the in between, the small beautiful sun through your partners beard singing on a dumb road trip, laughing at having spinich in your teeth and talking to strangers...jogging into your ex boyfriend, Drinking a cup of tea and contemplating, yelling when your hormonal,crying at ads on tv or even just crying because well you hurt...baking your first batch of scones and so much more

these make us complete, wholesome and more than anything they make us human x

hiding in a vegan cafe

being asked to appear in a constipation ad

seeing your wifes mural on the beach for the 1st time

say no more !!

How lovely.

and you know i'm totally ok with that he is my kermie.

James is off to Sydney for a week and i as always when he is away like a lost kitten..

i tell myself i will be brave and not get scared at spooky sounds and well truth is i've grown so fond of his little quirks around me just catching him playing pretend drums in the kitchen and secretley hiding and watching with love...

listening to him play dolls with violet and put on all the voices..and his weird facial expressions whilst he plays the wii.

i miss him is all.

because i lub him.

and could think of nothing more i would need than these things.

lucky i have super great kids to pick me up from my lost stupper!!!

Talk to you all in a week when i see my james and the computer yay!!!

jogging/speed walking/ex boyfriends and tights..

i unfortunatley don't have a picture of me in my jogging/walking outfit...it's not good and i leave extra early for mainly that reason...i have a pudgy belly and alot of jiggly bits..i look like i'm dying when i run..i sweat and i DO NOT WANT TO RUN INTO ANYONE I KNOW!!!

so i leave very early.

however today i slept in...and james motivated me to go on and get going so off i went around 8 am.

The last thing i said to my james was are you sure i look ok???

so off i went sun was shining music on started walking to the beat...blah blah..then moved on into michael jackson abc got into the groove and started jogging...(apparentley you just run heheheh)

so ran right into my ex boyfriend..

yep.

these moments are the ones i want to look strong in control sort of like ha! look at me i'm so lucky i'm not with you and i did just fine...instead i ran straight up to him dying saying something like...ohmygodimdyingsonicetoseeyoushoooobaaaalaaarrr ohhh goshh i'm sweatysounfitlookterrible do you like michael jackson?i gotta go.....

and then i jiggled away in my half run half dying run.

OH MY GOSH!!!

james and i have been argueing whether it matters how ex partners see you when they see you again all morning!!

he thinks it's hilarious and i'm being silly because who cares what they think but i kind of do...and don't at the same time..

i mean i know i don't want to be looking my worst anyway thats my morning start in a nutshell :)

things can only get better from here

i won't be posting for the next week after sunday..

james is away and taking the computer..

in the mean time i will try and get a picture of me in my running gear xx

so i have decided it is time to show off some of the new work i have been quietly working on.

titled: 'it's in our hands our hearts and way down where the butterflies flutter.'

i'm trying something new and moving in a direction wherever my little heart wants to take me...and i am rather suprised at what i'm getting on paper so far, not worrying about whether i will sell them, whether other people will like them, whether i will even frame them just letting them be.

and come as they come...

it might sound all wishy washy to some, however this is a BIG thing for me because i tend to do everything....BIGGER THAN MOUNT EVEREST!!

you know if i'm going to do artwork....i'm going to do the hell outta artwork...

if i'm going to the framing place...boy am i in trouble with james...

and so just being and sitting with stuff is mighty mighty hard!

I mean as per usual all work i have on display here is for sale by enquiry...framed or unframed (smile)(chuckle)

Now back to life..

well eagerly awaiting the archibald prize announcement and can't wait to see what gets in!

i saw the packers prize winner kind of cool.

alot of meat

i'm not a meat eating kind of girl so not so cool for me, that and i can't stop looking between that beasts legs...

and also i'm not digging a man so into chopping up some animals. but i guess who cares what i think in the end.

my lovely mum put an entry in this year and also my aunt...good luck girls xx we should know by after lunch whether either got in :)

it must be so nerve racking all the waiting.

even if you don't make it remember you are such trully wonderful artists and as Ken Done said to us...

I have a friend whom i don't ever get to spend time in the flesh with...

we are purely pen friends. we live in the same town and all.

I have done many paintings based on her.

Her name is wonderful :)

and everytime i get her mail my heart skips a beat.

How is it someone i have never actually spent real time with know me so well?

I think it is because letter writing is such an honest beautiful thing..we tell each other far more than we would most probably face to face and to be really honest i think i would be so shy to ever have gone right up to her and said..hey lets be friends...she is wonderful!!

and i a fraidy cat!

But it just isn't this one friend i have like this i have another however she lives a little further away and i'm pretty sure is my only blog fan :) other than my mother hehehehe

and without her support i wouldn't get on her and ramble on and keep on keepin' on...

she is a special one indeed :)

I met my husband via the written word..it was so lovely much nicer than in a bar or in a tree in a car in a house or with a mouse heheheheh!!

but i loved rushing home to see if i had mail and chatting long into the night online with him..

sometimes i miss it oh so much

it was long before facebook...(which makes me hate the internet)

but these are reasons i love the internet...for these people...whom i wouldn't be without.

And it's useful for finding out what the heck my kids homework means!!

and for finding killer shoes and tights...

and for solving arguements with james over stupid facts...like

i think if i had to describe myself on the spot at the moment..

i would find it an impossible task.

I would wiggle and squirm in my seat at just the thought or meer mention of who i am...or who i might be becoming..

I know that i am Naomie.

Or as some people only know me

However what this Mrs Shepherd is fails to appear before me or maybe i should just say am i living up to the stantard i set for myself everyday?

Is it just too unrealistic, maybe i just move far too fast for myself to even spot...

a wise person told me if i slowed down for a second i might see something that i am missing, something great.

And then describing myself isn't so overwhelming at all.

it doesn't have to be just sitting around all day..but if your going to do something be mindful of what your doing and things become so much clearer.

if your going to eat an orange :)

really eat the orange slowly and taste every burst...

that should apply to your life..

hmmm i wonder.

and you know i don't mind that as my description of who i am.

sometimes i go about life with a worried look upon my brow..

and the people i care about ask me "whats wrong?"

"why so worried?"

"why so sad?"

"you seem to carry the whole world upon your shoulders!"

to be honest really i think it is a part of me.

to worry..

sadness..

to feel a little fragmented at times..

However I'm also Fiery and luminous..

squishy and happy on special occasions hehee

And as i have mentioned before.

I also suffer a great deal with mental illness

keep interested here as i am getting to a point..

and that being.

we really are wired to be who we are.

no matter how hard we try some bits are just us and that's ok.

I mean we can work hard on trying to change habits and problem areas and stuff...

But wouldn't be an amazing world where we all were excepting of all shapes and sizes colours and differences.

Its not a new thought..its all been said before..

I have only been thinking about it this morning because i read a book of my daughter violets..and it said this...

our hearts are the same..

we hurt the same..

we laugh the same..

and we all cry the same..

wherever you are wherever they are

all over the world...

well something like that anyway..

and it kind of put some bounce in my step this morning.

i find comfort in knowing that there are lots of people all over this big wide world...probably feeling the weight of the world upon their shoulders just like me.

and there are lots of people somewhere in this big wide world who are squishy...just like me...

and it's a beautiful thing xx

embracing just being a little quirky..

being free...and letting your inner smile out..

loving unconditionally

being silly no matter who's looking..

enjoying your talent..and embracing your inner rock star..

knowing it's ok to be odd.. the Dags of the world always end up being the coolest..

knowing any moustache is a good moustache...

keeping your inner child alive...

never taking crap from anyone....

be yourself...be true to who you are....

never drink bad coffee...it gives you pooh breath...and if your going to go to a cafe!!

Last night i had the pleasure of seeing The National...

normally when i see a band i find i have a song i remember and think this is it! This is the song i liked the best...

But i must say each and every song they played i loved, i was in awe of this band, i loved it and was only sad that it had to end and that i couldn't get to see them tonight again and again..

i love such a feeling with live music where you know the concert is set to end but the music fills your body and soul and in that moment you wish it would last an eternity...but you know soon you will be walking the streets with the rest of the eager fans.

anyhow my little Mr delivers everytime when it comes to concerts and always gets me a awesome seat...so thankyou mr for a fantastic birthday x

i'm getting so nervous when i think of the show i'm getting a washing machine effect in my tummy :)
it started as butterflies now it's the spin cycle!
each peice that comes back from the framing store is just so magical i wish i could keep it.
There is something sad about doing artwork to sell..you form a strange bond with it, fall in love with it and hope it finds the right kind of person to live with.
I remember once i fell so madly in love with a peice i just couldn't sell it but then this little girl wanted it so very much..i just had to let her have it. it made me so happy seeing her so excited.
Its not for the money that we do this for, it's for the little moments when someone loves what you do as much as you..
I'M TERRIBLE..if i could i would give everything away...i love giving presents..it's so awesome :)
The funnest thing ever...i think i love other peoples birthday's more than mine.

hmmm so whats new...well i have discovered the wi fit.

hello my fine friends and odd ones..

i'm finally back from wherever it is i went to.

Mental illness sucks big time.

The worse thing about it...

Is that for me it always feels like time has flown by and i haven't been gone for that long at all and then when i really stop and take a closer look at all thats said and gone...

Life has moved on around me.

I have been gone for a huge 8 weeks.

that equals 8weeks away from my children, my partner in crime, my circle of friends etc...

And i have to re-build things step by step.

Seemingly i can't just walk back in and just be the way things were.

so this is just one of the examples of why mental illness sucks amongst a long long list!

on an upper!! i have done alot of work... am not sure if it's what people will like but i have done alot.

so now it's time to get back into the swing of making a show again easy does it!! right o right o mrs shep...one thing at a time :)

I haven't been my usual Mrs. Shepherd...fun time gal

lately. In fact i have been the complete opposite...well sort of...actually maybe too much fun time but the kind that freaks the guts out of people!

Currently im having a short stay in the mental health clinic at the mayo...feel fee to visit hint hint hehehe it's not so bad the staff are nice and blah blah bladdy bladdy blah..

i have been in some horrendous places so this is the Crowne plaza compared to those experiences.

Anyway so i'm wring this fine morn.. (ah haha mighty boosh)

yes mmmm in the morn...about how i'm putting on an art show and this has stressed me out so much...why?

i'm pretty sure it's because i feel the need to have people like me...not just my art work but me.

one massive thing that changed me this year was my daughters becoming teenagers and feeling so stupid and daggy and not cool..

in fact around most teenagers...is 31 old? i mean come on??

i feel like i'm 19...and i doll pretty good for a 31 year old...well i hope..

anyway enough dribbling on...

chicken and duck stuff

i use this story whenever i am feeling confused and i thought i would share it with you all..

The Chicken and The Duck.

A newly Married couple went for a walk together one fine summer's day.

They were having a wonderful time together, being together when they

heard a sound in the distance..

'Quack quack!'

'Listen', said the wife. 'That must be a chicken'.

'No, no', said the husband...'thats a duck'.

'No, I'm sure that's a chicken'. She said.

'Impossible'. 'Chickens go cluck cluck. Duck go quack quack. That is a

duck..darling a duck!' He said with his first sign of irritation.

'Quack, Quack',! It went again

'See! It's a duck'. He said!

'No dear, that is a chicken. I'm positive'. She asserted. Digging in

her heels.

'Listen wife! That....is...a...DUCK. D..U..C..K...DUCK! got it', he

said angrily.

'But it's a chicken' ,she protested.

'It's a bloomin' duck, you'...

And it went

'Quack quack!' Before he said something he really shouldn't.

The wife was almost in tears...but it's a chicken..

Then...the husband saw the tears welling up in his wifes eyes and at

i can win over each and everyone i know with these.

250g unsalted butter

2 cups brown sugar

2 eggs

3/4 cup cooking cocoa

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups organic self raising flour

1/2 cup sultanas

roughly chopped good quality dark choc,

white choc,milk choc

preaheat oven 165degrees approx

Cream butter,vanilla and sugar

add lightly beaten eggs,cocoa.

fold in flour.

you'll get your hands dirty! knead in all flour

roll into balls and squash out...with help of little hands

cook in oven for approx 15/20 min

serve with milk in the sun xx

the weather has been so amazing all i have wanted to do is be outside with the girls..being productive...

watch me run rings through the trees..

it's so nice and to make matters even better the mornings are cooling down so bed is all warm and snuggly ready for morning snuggles.

I am completley blessed to have a partner who everyday since we met has made me a coffee in bed mmm...

so lucky.

Today i am trying to have a hermit day.

It is one of my favourite things to do in the whole world.

i don't answer the phone...the door...i snuggle up...listen to music and if i feel like it do some artwork...whick i have already started to do and i must say i'm getting kind of excited.

i've been working off some old sketches of mine and working on canvas...(new for me)

canvas is so fun...and messy...i'm usually so neat...sitting at my desk...everything in it's place...so it's been nice to get my hands a little dirty x

i'm putting some new stuff in a new exhibition... ...hope some of you can make it xx

it's a little cabin on some beautiful land built by our lovely grandpa..

i finally do it!

and boy do i go large...it was scary painting so big i'm used to such teeny tiny peices but i had loads of fun. she's got a fair way to go....and when she is done i will attach her lovely sailing boat to her hair...

i was so excited when i picked it up in a thrift store...i knew it was meant for her...here is a picture of me holding it there like a goose :)

I often wonder what it would be like to wake up and be something else but for sure today i wish i were cat girl..

it's weird that when we have a disquise on we feel different more confident...i watched a movie with the girls last night and it made me think about disguises more...

is it we wear a disguise to hide ourselves...or to show the world more about ourselves?

i think i wearing mine is to show more of me than i would like to think....like wearing my heart on my sleave or something.

Sometimes my disguises get me in a whole mixed bag of trouble then i'm left naked without a thing left to hide behind..exposed..and to be truthful that person there isn't really me at all.

I am nothing without my colours, my brooches, my boots and all.

over the last couple of days i have been so blue :(

My whole world turned upside down in just a second...and so i am taking a short little break...to spend some well earned quality time just believing in myself.

oh my gosh yesterday was my first day i didn't have to make toys for anyone..i finally got to do something...some work from my heart..

This is a beautiful commission i have had the honour of painting

over the last couple of weeks.

It has been awsesome :)

And i must say i am going to miss them when they go.

Today i had a lovely day wandering around our lovely local shops chatting to the friendly locals, with violet..

we ate icecream in the sun and then visited the granparents followed by a lovely afternoon tea with my celia..

we had afternoon tea at tropical and the sweetest waitress looked after us...she was new and so so nervous and clumsy..

Today i worked on this image of a girl i know...three times over...playing with her and her owl friend then her whale in her hair...don't ask.

I get an idea..i paint it about 4 or 5 times i have been known to do it 10 or so before i get it right...it can become a little obsessive...

Once i had this idea about Goldilocks...it drove me nuts, i woke through the night waking James and saying all sorts of stuff writing notes etc...

i drove friends mad telling them all about what i really thought about Goldilocks...

singstar teenage bliss

I'm sitting here listening to my three kids and their friends sing to singstar...it sounds truly awful heheheh

But good and wonderful all at once.

Teenagers: Lily couldn't look more beautiful today sitting next to her friend, they almost look like twins, same hair style same laugh each taking on each other little movements from hanging out with each other so often...it's pretty cute!

Then theres Grace and Quinn, trying desperately to act all older than they are...however failing miserably..it's all very amusing to observe..

and violet being three just terrorising them all heheheh.

Today i worked on some illustrations on small canvas.

i don't usually work on canvas..i had fun,sort of..

except when Gracie dropped a pot of red paint all over the floor.

And i think they look how i want them to almost..I also played around with new colours...because i seem to be so stuck on red so much hehheh

so today i used alot of orange and tea stain and stuff like that.

Boring to some exciting to me :)

Also had coffee with Pete which proved to be fab.

I think lately this is becoming one of my favourite things to do..In some strange way Pete keeps me centred yet also makes me loose total track of time altogether heheheh

tonight james and i are having a bad cardi party with our much loved friends :)

we have been busy making our house into a cosy place of old skool joy...we are so excited it crazy...

The old record player is out and i have the most terrible outfit to wear i can barely look at it!

It is great..

I'm having a sudden lack of enthusiasm to work today...normally I'm all keen as punch to start however today i had nothing i just had nothing. Today i was an empty vessel.

I think i would have been unable to even hold a proper conversation..

These are the days best spent alone...and when people ask what you have been doing, you answer with a slight high pitch voice...."oh you know....stuff!"

Mostly because you have know real clue what you've done with your day and you know full well you can never ever get that day back.

I also feel a sense of guilt because i know James is out there enormously busy, saving the world...

well at least this little towns strange world.. and here i am rambling around trying to be busy.

Stop staring at the white sheet of paper Mrs Shep and create something!!!

And not just any family a great big family.

This morning i went op shopping with my Celia and i bought a new member of the Shep family...miss apple..above...i love her and making her extra special is that i have been doing some Apple head girls lately too in my artworks...

James looked at me with that oh so puzzled way when i pulled her out of the car...

he'll grow just as fond of her as i am I'm sure.

also i found this gorgeous red piano i have wanted one of these since i was little...its a shame the legs are missing...I'll have to keep looking for one in tact but until then this makes me smile xx

My mothers gorgeous wonderful gallery was broken into last night we all feel so sad...but luckily no painting were touched (thank goodness)

But still it sucks that someone is so bored they have to stoop so low as to go around wrecking stuff just for a tip jar and some cans of coke. hopefully these people come back as cockroaches or something in their next lives..

today my goodness how lovely i found a little shop that made me do a little jig...it was called the cool look shop in Nabiac!! heheheh

What a funny little name but oooh be still my heart the clothes and the furniture...

This woman has delved into the cookie box that is my mind and stolen my dream bedroom and set it up in her shop...

I was squealing like a little kid.

There was a bed there...a rather pricey bed that if i had my credit card with me would have been strapped to the roof of my car.

i loved every moment of this place every inch.

I'm getting all excited..

Today was Violets birthday party we all sat outside in the sun eating and passing food around...it was lovely.

All i can hear still is the rambling and giggling of children..i love it...I'm soaking every last bit of it up.

It's like a Walt Disney movie here right now we are all smiling and James just chopped the wood for the fire hehehehehhehe

all we need is those weird little mice that sew!!
